It’s not often I diverge from the central theme of music here at My Liner Notes, but considering that I’m DJing this show I suppose I should do my part in promoting the event.
This Friday, Toronto-based illustrator/graphic designer/animator Ron Caddigan will be throwing his first-ever art exhibit at vintage clothing store Tabula Rasa (Broadview just south of Danforth).
As Caddigan himself explains, “‘Ladies of Mystery’ features all sorts of heroines, harlots and harpies in peculiar situations. You won’t be able to take you eyes off them, which is probably for the best since you never can tell what they’ll do when your back is turned.”
For those of you unfamiliar with Caddigan’s work, his illustrations contain a raw and subversive edge that’s more tongue-in-cheek than blatantly offensive (that being said, expect a few nipples and maybe even some bush).
You can check out his wickedly twisted work at Cyclops And Owl or on Eysy.
As for me, I’ll be playing the best in indie dance/rock, electronic, hip hop, Motown, and god forbid, a mash-up or two.
So come by, check out some fantastic art, have a drink or 5, shop around, and dance like no one (important) is watching.
